Trisha Daningburg

Trisha Daningburg

I am an Interventionist at a 7-12 Rural School. I LOVE my job and the scholars I have the privilege to teach! I am a lifelong learner who loves to travel and bring my adventures back to my school community. In my "spare" time I co-coordinate our School Food Center to combat food insecurity while teaching in a food desert.

Always learning!

Always learning!

Collaborating with educators with the world as our classroom.

I believe we are all lifelong learners and I model that for my students. I am thrilled to have been selected for the Morpho Educator Institute. https://morphoinstitute.org/educator-academy/

This opportunity is not free and while I was selected for the Biodiversity and Sustainability Fellowship to help offset costs, I am still responsible for a portion of the trip as well as all of my airfare. Getting from rural America to Peru is not cheap but this opportunity is truly once in a lifetime for me and my students. I am honored to have been selected for a fellowship and trying to find a way to make this opportunity become a reality.

As a teacher I work with students who are struggling to reach grade level standards in one or more skill area (Reading, Writing, Math...). School is remarkably hard for my students but they show up everyday ready to go. They mostly do the work because I ask them to do it. For most, they see school as a task, I want them to view school as an opportunity. The chance to travel to Peru and bring back that learning would be incredible. I want my learners to not only see themselves in their learning but also contextualize their learning in the real world. As part of this trip we will also have the opportunity to visit the Maijuna Village and learn more about how this community not only survives but thrives living "off the grid" near the Amazon River. As a rural community we are somewhat isolated from other ways of life. This would be a unique perspective to share and one that would resonate with my learners. We would also be traveling with the Bug Chicks, entomologist who incorporate Social Emotional Learning with bugs. Learning from the experts as well as fellow teachers will make for an incredible experience!

This grant would cover over half the airfare to make this adventure happen.
