My name is Anthony Perez and I am a visual storyteller documenting the living cultures of the Pacific through photography, film, and immersive storytelling.

Through my work,  I travel slowly between island communities across Oceania, building relationships and capturing moments that reflect culture, identity, and everyday life.

My photography and storytelling focuses on cultural practices such as the arts of tapa and weaving, voyaging, language, and language, as well as the connection between people, ocean, and identity. I aim to document real moments within communities across the Pacific.

My approach is rooted in time, trust, and presence. Many of the images I capture come from living within communities.

Over the past few years, I have documented stories primarily centered around Tokelau, with additional documentation from Samoa and neighboring Pacific communities, conducting interviews, creating short films, and building a body of visual work that bridges the islands.

What matters most to me is that these images are not just mine, they represent people, places, and traditions that deserve to be seen and remembered.

This grant would further allow me to continue documenting these communities, travel between islands, and share these stories through photography and visual storytelling.
