Adam Maldonado on behalf of FEED NEEDS

I’m Adam Maldonado, Executive Director of FEED NEEDS, serving individuals and families experiencing hardship across the South Puget Sound. I focus on direct outreach—meeting people where they are and building trust through consistent support, food access, and essential resources. Our work centers on dignity, connection, and practical solutions that address real needs. Through this work, I’ve seen how deeply people rely on their animals for stability and support. That’s why we serve the whole household—because helping people also means helping the animals they depend on.

Supporting People by Supporting the Animals They Love

Through FEED NEEDS, we serve individuals and families facing hardship across our community. In that work, one thing is clear—people don’t go through struggle alone. Many rely on animals for comfort, stability, and survival.

🐾 Lived Experience

All of our cats—Cleo, LC, and Oreo—are rescues.

That experience shaped how we see the human-animal bond:

  • Animals provide emotional support and purpose
  • They help people stay grounded during crisis
  • They are often treated as family, not pets
❤️ What We See in the Field

In our outreach, we regularly meet individuals who:

  • Share their limited food with their animals
  • Refuse services if their pets aren’t allowed
  • Depend on their animals for mental and emotional stability
🔧 What This Grant Will Do

This funding will help us:

  • Provide pet food alongside human food distributions
  • Distribute basic supplies (leashes, bowls, coats, blankets)
  • Support people and their animals together, not separately
🌍 The Impact

  • Keeps animals with their owners
  • Reduces animal surrender and neglect
  • Strengthens trust and connection with those we serve
