Grant Winner

I'm really here to tell you about our son, Kaleb. Kaleb will soon be ten years old. He has volunteered dog walking for the rescue, Second Chance Mason Animal Rescue for two years now. Kaleb loves animals, loves to fish, and wishes to be a detective when he is older. He is very committed and passionate about the work he has done for the rescue. Kaleb gets up early in the morning to be at the rescue upon opening Kaleb knows the rescue animals are waiting for him and count on him to get out of their kennels for some much needed outdoor time and play.

I'm here to tell you about our son, Kaleb.  Kaleb will soon be ten years old. He has volunteered dog walking for the rescue, Second Chance Mason Animal Rescue for two years now. He is very committed and passionate about the work he has done for the rescue. He gets up early in the morning to be at the rescue upon opening.

At this time he is their only junior volunteer. He knows the rescue animals are waiting for him and count on him to get out of their kennels for some much needed outdoor time and play.

We also teach basic commands  so that they will be well behaved, making adoption much easier. Many times we take the dogs to the dog park to run off leash. Kaleb loves to run with them and throw a ball for them.

The real reason we would be honored to be considered for this grant is that Kaleb has a dog at home who is now a senior dog. Her name is Bailey. She is a boxer. We just learned in July that Bailey has DM and is losing the mobility of her back legs. I have searched near and far for help with a wheelchair for Bailey to no avail. If Kaleb is chosen for this grant he and I would like to take care of our beloved dog's needs by getting her a wheelchair so she can maybe once again go on walks with us. In good judgment we sometimes take her along on our walks with the rescue. If we can once again take her it would help give Bailey the exercise and confidence she so badly needs right now. Bailey has been a part of our family since she was six weeks old. She is now fourteen. She has so much more life in her. She may not be able to parade around with a toy in her mouth like she used to when she would hear her favorite little boy get up in the morning, but she sure still gives us her smile and is excited to see and love on him.

We were told she is not in any pain. I have put forth what I  can afford to change her diet to something that would better support her joint and bones and mobility. I also have wasted a bit on supplements that didn't seem to help before finding out her actual condition. I just know this would make a world of difference for her and mean so much to our son and us.

Thank you for the opportunity and for your consideration. Thank you for all you do to help animals and the impact you make on other people's  lives.  Last, but not least thank you to all those who voted for us.
