We are a small, 5 person rescue, here in Townsend MT. We have been operating for about 5 years and have spayed/neutered, vaccinated and gotten adopted about 600 cats and kittens. We are self funded. We do fundraising and have a facebook page Townsend Cat Network and Rescue with over 500 followers. We get support from that community in the way of food, litter, pads, new traps and actually anything we need. This kitten season hit us early we had 5 kittens we trapped, a pregnant mama and 3 mamas with 14 kittens already. The mamas went to a wonderful rescue after the kittens were weaned the rescue spayed them and one has been adopted. All of our kittens were taken in to be fixed and vaccinated and have all been adopted into awesome loving homes. We have a pretty extensive adoption application and we do meet and greets with potential adopters before the kittens are adopted. This week we are getting 4 pregnant mamas from another rescue who has taken over 20 cats from a colony. These mamas will have their babies in a safe loving environment with our two foster moms. We also trap ferals get them fixed and vaccinated and into barn homes. We teach folks how to acclimate their kitties to their new barn homes, stressing the need for food, water and a safe shelter and that they be kept in an enclosed area for at least a month. We also do emergency kitty vet visits. Last month we took in a beautiful kitty who had been shot and had to have her leg amputated. She healed beautifully and is now in a loving home. We don’t turn people away but since we have no shelter here we do ask them to be patient with us as we have to work around appointments and find barn homes. We love what we do! I couldn’t ask for a more dedicated amazing crew than I have. Blessed are the caretakers.
