Teresa Kidd Long

I believe that every animal deserves a chance at a happy, healthy life. This deep-rooted compassion fuels my dedicated work in animal rescue. Over the years, I have volunteered for The Culpeper Humane Society and MAD Cats. I have taken the initiative to foster, rehabilitate, and advocate for vulnerable animals facing uncertain futures. Whether I am coordinating community adoption events, nursing sick pets back to health, sitting with a fearful stray, or working on a fundraiser, I bring tireless energy and compassion to every rescue mission. My hands-on efforts have directly resulted in countless animals finding their forever families. For me, the greatest reward is witnessing a timid rescue animal transform into a confident, loving companion. I remain deeply committed to being a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves and am dedicated to building a future where every pet has a safe, welcoming home.

Why I Should Be Awarded This Grant
My Journey in Animal Rescue
I am a passionate volunteer with MAD Cats, a community-driven organization dedicated to improving the lives of stray and feral cats in Madison. While I am deeply committed to the mission of MAD Cats, this grant is a personal opportunity for me to expand my impact in animal rescue.

What Drives Me
Rescuing animals is not just a passion—it's my purpose. Over the years, I have:

  • Fostered and adopted out over 100 kittens, ensuring they find loving, forever homes.
  • Rescued and rehabilitated over 50 stray cats, providing them with a second chance at life.
  • Organized community TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs, reducing the stray cat population in our area.
  • Headed up several fundraisers, raising critical funds to support rescue efforts.
  • Educated local communities about humane animal care and the importance of spaying/neutering.
How This Grant Will Help
Receiving this grant will allow me to:

  • Expand my rescue efforts by purchasing essential supplies like food, medicine, and traps.
  • Provide medical care for injured and sick animals that would otherwise go untreated.
  • Create educational workshops to inspire others to join the cause.
A Personal Commitment
This grant is not just funding—it's a lifeline for the animals I care for. With your support, I can continue to make a tangible difference in the lives of countless animals and the communities they touch.
